Birhan Ewunu Semagn

Birhan Ewunu Semagn is a PhD candidate at Amsterdam University Medical Centre, University of Amsterdam, under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie GROW COFUND program. His research focuses on applying a life course perspective to cardiometabolic health in Sub-Saharan African populations, evaluating interventions to reduce unhealthy diets and physical inactivity among adolescents in Kenya and Ghana.
Before joining Amsterdam UMC, Birhan served as a lecturer at Debre Berhan University in Ethiopia. He earned an MPH in Health Promotion and Behavioral Health Science from the University of Gondar in 2023. He graduated his B.Sc. degree in 2019 at Debre Berhan University ,where he gained interdisciplinary training in both clinical fields (internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, obstetrics, and pediatrics) and public health disciplines (epidemiology, biostatistics, and health education). He was also a DAAD In-Region Scholar at the University for Development Studies in Ghana. Read here more about his research.
