Call for Apllications
The Generation-H Project, led by the University Of Ghana, School Of Public Health, is pleased to invite applications from outstanding individuals for one Postdoctoral Fellowship position. This two-year fellowship, beginning 2025, will be tenable at the University of Ghana, Accra, Ghana.
The Generation-H Project is a collaborative initiative funded by the European Commission, aimed at reducing unhealthy diets and physical inactivity among adolescents aged 10-19 years in urban communities within the Greater Accra Region. By promoting healthier lifestyles, the project seeks to prevent non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and enhance the overall well-being of adolescents.
About the Project
The Generation-H Project is a public health initiative, aimed at reducing non-communicable disease (NCD) risk factors among adolescents aged 10-19 years in urban communities in the Greater Accra Region. The project focuses on promoting healthier behaviors, such as balanced diets and physical activity, through evidence- and theory-based interventions co-developed with stakeholders in education, health, and community leadership. It is hoped that such actions will contribute to the empowerment of adolescents to adopt lifelong healthy habits and contribute to the prevention of NCDs. The successful candidate will be engaged to undertake high quality research within the focus areas of the project.
Qualification and Eligibility Criteria
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
- A PhD (or equivalent doctoral degree) in public health, nutrition, epidemiology, health economics, behavioral sciences, or a related field (obtained within the last five years).
- Strong academic credentials and a demonstrated commitment to an academic career.
- Research interest in adolescent health, NCD prevention, health promotion, or food environment research is desirable.
- Proficiency in data collection, statistical analysis, and manuscript preparation.
Responsibilities and Opportunities
The Postdoctoral Fellow will be an integral part of the Generation-H research team and will:
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of the Generation-H intervention.
- Engage in data collection, analysis, and dissemination of project findings through high-quality publications.
- Support the development of research proposals and contribute to capacity-building activities for postgraduate students.
- Participate in stakeholder engagement activities, including workshops and community meetings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and build networks within the adolescent health and NCD prevention fields.

Salary
- The successful candidate will be paid a monthly salary in line with the University of Ghana pay scale.

Selection and Notification
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview. The selected candidate is expected to commence the fellowship by February, 2025.
